Verdant Storyworks is the home of Matthew Greenberg. I help organizations figure out what they actually want to say — and then I make sure it gets made. I'm based in the Washington, DC, area and work across video, podcast, long-form writing, and content strategy. My clients tend to be institutions — universities, nonprofits, government agencies, and large brands — with real things to say and complicated internal processes for saying them.
Video Production
I work with strategy, marketing, government relations, and communications teams to develop long- and short-form video — turning institutional research and knowledge into productions that hold an audience.
Narrative Management
Less a vendor than a trusted partner. I've worked directly with C-suite executives on some of the most politically and reputationally sensitive corporate work — CSR, government relations, executive profiles, and high-stakes fundraising — helping leaders figure out what they want to say and how to say it in a way that lands.
On-Set Direction
I've directed countless interviews and on-set productions — helping subjects find their voice on camera and steering conversations toward the moments that actually serve the piece.
Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center
When RFK Human Rights bestowed its Ripple of Hope Award on the president and chairman of Discovery, Inc., I led the production of the video introducing him at the awards gala — a profile of his philanthropic work that had to hold the room and feel personal.
I traveled across the country to interview business associates and personal friends, then wrote and oversaw production and post-production of the finished portrait.
After the awards show, I was asked to write and produce a PSA for the group's education initiatives that ran on Discovery's cable networks.
Warner Bros. Discovery CSR
Warner Bros. Discovery has deep ties to documentary and non-fiction programming and to the local communities where it operates — which meant it was regularly asked to support national and local nonprofits.
These two videos — for Washington, D.C.'s N Street Village women's shelter and the National Parks Conservation Association — are examples of that work. I led the concept and writing on both, then worked with internal and external production partners to bring them to life.
WBD Government Relations
Working with Warner Bros. Discovery's CSR and government relations teams, I wrote and produced a number of videos for the federal government — including work for President Biden's 2021 Leaders Summit on Climate and Summit for Democracy.
This video, produced for the Department of the Interior, documented a partnership between the United States and several African nations to provide expertise and equipment to stem poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking.
For the second, I worked with the U.S. State Department to develop content for the 2021 Summit for Democracy.
AVIXA Copywriting
In 2024, I began writing video scripts for the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA), the premier education and trade organization for interactive A/V professionals.
I've written scripts across their video series — from interviews with industry experts and CEOs to profiles of international interactive installations.
Writing & Editing
From long-form articles to 60-second scripts to podcasts, I write across formats, adapting voice and register to each client without losing what makes the work worth reading.
Agility
The first rule in journalism school is “make your deadline,” and I take that seriously. I'm a quick study and a fast writer — and I don't miss deadlines.
Washington International Horse Show & Animal Planet
As part of an ongoing partnership, Discovery, Inc.'s Animal Planet provided marketing and production resources to the corporate and philanthropic partners of the Washington International Horse Show.
For this video, I led a film crew to capture how two very different show partners — T.A.P.S. (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors of military families) and the Salamander Resort — came together around Salamander's Equispective equine therapy program. The finished video played on the jumbo screen at D.C.'s Capital One Arena during the competition.
The following year, I led production of a second show video, this one highlighting The Trust for the National Mall and its campaign to fund new stables for the U.S. Park Police's mounted officers.
Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity
Warner Bros. Discovery has been a long-time supporter of the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. As part of that partnership, I led the research, writing, and production of a number of branding and fundraising videos for the foundation.
The mini-documentary about Marion Wiesel's early life was part of a series of short films shown during a remotely produced, online streaming fundraiser in honor of Mrs. Wiesel's 90th birthday. Coordinating shoots and interviews via Zoom with crews, subjects, and hosts around the world, I oversaw the assembly and delivery of the two-hour show — which raised more than $3 million.
BP and Content Marketing
For BP, I worked with corporate marketers and external production crews on a series of employee profiles documenting the company's presence in local communities.
I also led the production teams behind a series of athlete profiles created as part of BP's sponsorship of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams.
